From the dazzle of summer to the burnish of fall, from the scherzo, to the tango, to the ballad, to the blues, enjoy an afternoon matinee of music to celebrate the last day of summer. Doreen Dixson Gamell, soprano and Stuart Lucks, pianist perform a joint program of solo piano and song spanning the Romantic piano works of Schumann and Chopin to the folk-inspired melodies of Ravel and songs of the American masters Harold Arlen and Stephen Sondheim. Piano works of Schumann, Chopin, Barber, Villa Lobos and Lucks. Songs of Ravel, Barber, Hoiby, Villa Lobos, Harold Arlen and Stephen Sondheim. Immediately following the concert, the enjoyment continues with a reception and wine tasting presented by Main Street Wine & Spirits of Port Washington – a sumptuous send-off to the sultry days of summer.
